controlling console message output

hello,

my apologies if this has been answered before but is there a way to control and/or stop in some cases output to console from my app? of course the console logging is important but sometimes especially with NSTask i notice it can spit out rather harmless messages that will just fill the logs. if this is intentionally not possible then i understand. thank you in advance,

rick
