no need to state the obvious. if Clock can do what it does, then it's possible to do it... I'm interested to know how I can do the same thing


For the umpteenth time of telling you, you cannot do this using the public routines in the SDK that apple provides. And anything not using those routines is something which cannot be discussed here. You can't do what you want with the current iPhone SDK, end of story.
