But heed the other's hints that, except for special classes of
software (like a VNC app), software that warps the pointer's location
independent of the mouse is much un-loved on the Mac.

Do you mean the mouse cursor or the text insertion cursor? It's
unusual to set the mouse cursor, since that's normally under user
control, unless you're writing something like a VNC client.
