Hi John,

thanks for the heads-up, I'll look into the mentioned frameworks (?) right away. Until now it was my ambition to program all routines by myself (it's a hobby app), but in regards to the graphic performance I'm nearly at my wits' end.

After my posting I stumbled over CGPatternRef class, maybe an alternative to the gradient approach...
