ah I see you mean the disableColectorForPointer: and
enableCollectorForPointer: methods, sorry I read enable/disable and went
to look at those methods

I didn't mean shutting GC off entirely. I meant disabling collection for a pointer temporarily and re-enabling it when you're done, which is one way of solving the problem of passing an object into a function/method that takes a generic pointer. You can do that with NSGarbageCollector.
