NSWindowController is not its window's delegate by default, nor does it automatically listen for the related notifications, and nor does it conform to the (new, formal) NSWindowDelegate protocol by default. So if you haven't attempted to do that, or implemented any NSWindowDelegate methods, there's no reason you would have had any warnings.
