GKSession and WLAN

  • Subject: GKSession and WLAN

Hi list,

Is GKSession capable of connecting local devices without bluetooth - just using WLAN?

The docs say no:
"A GKSession object provides the ability to discover and connect to nearby iPhones using Bluetooth."
No word on WLAN.

I have two devices (iPod & iPhone) running iOS4 in my WLAN. I switched bluetooth OFF on both devices. If I run GKSession each device can see the other.
Why is that?

a) because I run them with a debug-build. Will not work in production
b) because GKSession does use WLAN, the docs are just wrong
c) it is a new iOS 4 feature, the docs just need an update

If GKSession is always capable of connecting either using bluetooth or WLAN that would be very nice, as I would be able to dump my WLAN-code. (I am talking only about local devices)

Can anyone please confirm or deny that?

	atze
