Regarding the implied question about list search, in my experience
it's almost always better to use Google with a site: directive than to
struggle with a site's built-in search. In this particular case, you
can use a query like "nsnumber int float
site:lists.apple.com/archives/cocoa-dev/" to search cocoa-dev.
