10.6.2. I did receive a suggestion from Jerry Krinock over the weekend to try switching to an XML store and seeing whether that fixed the problem, so I could narrow it down as to what was causing the problem, but haven't had time to look into that yet (I have a lot of custom code for transformable attributes, so I don't know whether this will work for me). Am planning to look into this whole thing further today.
