This sounds like a bug - if you do have a reproducible case, please log a bug in bugreporter.apple.com (and include your test case and sample code, if possible).
It sounds like you are going to have to force a redraw; call -setNeedsDisplayInRect: around the rows that have the affected issue. A brute force approach would be -setNeedsDisplay:YES
