Is it practical or even possible to install a few of my own characters for Lucide Grande which the system would use? Some of what I've read leads me to believe that I'd need to get a PhD in Fontology. Can I restrict my new characters to only Lucide Grande at a few sizes? What are the steps involved and what should I read?
I would create a custom font containing the characters you need, and
insert that font into the cascade list ahead of the system font. Then
you can safely reuse the standard code points for the symbols you want
to draw.
