Layout vs. Frame Rectangle

I am pretty sure the answer is no, but I was wondering if it was possible to programmatically obtain the layout rectangle as shown in Interface Builder in my own code outside of IB?

I couldn't find anything, except for:

http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/DeveloperTools/Reference/NSViewIBAdditions_Reference/Reference/Reference.html

but, as the documentation states, these methods are only relevant for IB plugins and I need the information outside of an IB plugin.

Thank you.
