I'm had good luck just using a dumb date check and telling users they
can set their clock back to get around it if need be.
My goal to force users to test new betas rather than use the first
one that works for them and to prevent having to support old betas
left in the field.
(I have had bugs introduced late in the beta cycle ship because no
one was testing the later betas)
