You should use a bundle if you will have a separate strings file. It's going to be a lot easier.
You could also hardcode your strings.
Beyond that, consider how to handle interactions with other CLI tools. Many do not handle non-ASCII strings well.
So, piping can be a potential problem.
Unfortunately, there's not a standard way (usually no way) to ask a tool piped to what it can handle.
Also, terminal settings and choice of shell can affect it.
