Thanks for the help.
I don't know Quartz Composer yet, but I'll take a look at the documentation and see if it fits my needs for the current program. I've been mulling it over, and may create a git branch to try Core Animation. First, it may facilitate future alternative animated displays such as scrolling test. Second, I might as well have some fun and learn it!
