I have a Cocoa app (Xcode 3.2.6) which displays text output in a window. This is pure output not meant to be edited by the user. Accordingly, the textfield is marked as not editable or selectable in IB.

Speaking as a possible user, it is often useful to be able to select text and copy it to the clipboard, even if the text is pure output and isn't editable. For example, Terminal.app allows this for all the text displayed in a shell window.
