Filter effects outside a CALayer

  • Subject: Filter effects outside a CALayer

Hi there,

it has been a long time since I have posted to this list, I had to give up Cocoa programming for a while; I hope everybody is doing well.

I have a little and by-the-way question, if anybody has ever stumbled upon this: I'd like to blur the screen *outside* of the perimeter of a CALayer. In other words, I'd like the background to be clean inside this CALayer, and blurred outside.

The most obvious way seems to be define four other layers that together with the first one pave the screen and apply a blur filter to those four.

Anything more simple?

Thanks a lot,
