Indeed that's what I meant.

Just assumptions (I know) but I would think the default implementation
does something similar to the code shown in the docs ...which is why I
expected that behavior. Not to mention the people on the cited post
saying "it's not needed" without explaining what needs tot be changed.

I am not following here - could you elaborate?
Are you saying with normal bindings there is just no observing involved?
