As a side note, back in the Apple ][ days and in high school, we had a program that would regularly fry a chip on our graphics cards.  Sometimes, the chip even exploded.

I'm not sure that your pursuit is a great idea, but finding out how to max out the processor cores would drain the battery and possibly warm it up.  I'd check out the chip layout, identify the tasks they are supposed to handle and find out which foundation classes exercise them the most.
