Framework installation pain in XC4.2

Is it commonplace to have to copy the compiled output of one's own framework into a deployment location ? I'm also not finding where to setup a search path for such custom framework once placed. Is there a more appropriate list to be asking for this ? And of course the documentation I can find on this topic is out of date and refers to all manner of XC3 features which seem not to have a corollary in XC4…

I'm trying to set up a lightweight custom framework against which I can hang a plugin architecture ~ dynamic bundle loading. Where would you place such a framework ? I have been targeting ~/Library/Frameworks for the moment, but suspect there is a scheme which would allow this to all be contained with the Application Support context for my app. Clues ?

~ Erik
