If you're having trouble getting the debugger to work in this state, try this. At the white screen, hold down the power button until "slide to power off appears", then release the power button and hold down the home button until the app disappears. This should generate a crash log with the exception code 0xdeadfa11. The backtraces in that crash log may help show what's going on.
