I understand your frustration, but the reviewers’ job is to enforce guidelines, not to teach developers. They have a huge workload and pretty much all they can do is check off things that need to be fixed. It’s like you were asking an IRS auditor to teach you how to do double-entry bookkeeping. :) I’m glad you found the forums / mailing lists; there are a lot of helpful people. There are also any number of books and online tutorials for these sorts of things.
