That's what I had to do. Unfortunately, iTunes wouldn't see my iPad until I quit and relaunched it (it did see my iPhone, and Xcode could see the iPad, so more crappy UE). But I'm all updated now.

Thanks for the confirmation that it wasn't smart enough to self-update.
