I think the problem is: "Welcome to iOS".  The iPad is not a Mac, koko.

More to the point, I think that you need Dropbox to explicitly support your document type.  A more practical alternative is to pass the document via Apps > File Sharing in iTunes.

But I'm only writing as an iPad user.  Maybe an iOS developer who has actually done this could please reply with more accurate information.
