OS X play a video?

I've been googling a while and haven't found anything solid yet. I've been
doing a lot of iOS development, this is my first journey into OS X.
AVSimplePlayer required using the menu to load a movie... I want to do
something much simpler than that.
I have a large bitmap of an iPad. I'd like to layer on top a video that
plays on top of that, as if it were playing on the iPad. Sounds simple. I
don't know what to use. I am using Xcode 6b4. So I think QTKit is out and I
need to use AVFoundation? Not sure what framework to use. I'd like to
programmatically adjust the volume, FF, Rewind, Play/Pause, etc.
Looking for some easy code I know will work. The movie can be loaded from a
URL or be local to the project - doesn't matter to me.
Thanks for any and all attention,
Eric
