I reckon, regardless of our experience, that we have all been there from time to time. I know I have.

My current approach is:

1. Use git even for trivia.
2. Use time machine and a NAS.
3. Use SourceTree (it’s free).
4. Use BitBucket (it’s free for small teams).

This setup has seen me wiggle out of most of my screw ups.
