This would be disconcerting to me--I didn't think that a window could be the main window without actually being open, which means that the window is already open before beginSheet... is called. Anotehr checkbox to check: is "restorable" unchecked? If not, the system may be trying to restore your sheet as a regular window and something is getting bunged up.
