For what it's worth, I felt like the changes to Xcode over the last few versions were most likely motivated by the notion that Xcode should superficially mimic Eclipse.

I loathe Eclipse.

I barely write for Apple platforms any more, and in all honesty Xcode is a non-trivial part of that.
