I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my recent lengthy posts. We
really were in crisis for a bit, and writing it out helped. Hopefully some
of the thoughts helped other members. Many of the responses were helpful
for us. Right now I'm digesting it all, and trying to figure what to say
in an email to email@hidden.
For overall content, I don't think such threads will be the norm. The
final death of Carbon was a big pivot point that stirred up some stuff.
Things will settle down soon. A special list for such topics probably
would be very quiet, most of the time.
As for topic rules, this list is cocoa-dev not cocoa-tech. I don't think
non-tech topics should be banned. Seems like anything that is important to
Cocoa developers ought to be OK. Discussion range could probably even be
broadened somewhat. I've been on this list for 3+ years and have never
seen a post that seemed inappropriate.
Jens, is Apple planning to add a better search feature to groups.io? That
is one flaw with this list also- hard to search the archives for previous
answers. In general, the new list setup seems potentially great- with a
wiki and other features on the left. But most of the sub-lists and
features seem little-used. What really makes a list rock is its members.
