Free trial period for apps in Mac App Store (?)

The App store Review Guidelines mention this:
"Non-subscription apps may offer a free time-based trial period before
presenting a full unlock option".
I have followed the links in that paragraph but that did not help me understand
how that works.
Can some kind soul please point me to resources where I can learn how to set up
and manage trial periods for my app?
(I am thinking of giving users a 1-month trial period with full functionality,
and after that they would have to pay if they want to continue to use the app.)
