Actually, it seems I wouldn't need older SDK's any more, see, for instance:

So, I guess, the crash is not caused by my machine not having the 10.12 SDK, is
it?
I don't think so. You need the crash report. Ask your beta tester
whether the dialog that says "cannot be opened because of a problem" has
a disclosure triangle that reveals a detailed report, which can then be
copied out and emailed to you.
