I haven't upgraded either. I usually wait for a point release to fix the
glaring bugs they always introduce. But I'm guessing they've broken legacy
screensavers even worse than they did before. It never properly terminates and
deallocs each ScreenSaverView, so after you wake it up, legacyScreenSaver
(Wallpaper) will continue to use megabytes or even gigabytes of memory. Engage
the screensaver again, wake it, and it will have added even more memory. At
least it does this with my screensaver, which plops down random images via
CALayer animations.
I might bite the bullet and install 15 sooner instead of waiting. I was hoping
they would have fixed legacyScreenSaver, or at least introduced a new framework
we could base screensavers on. I don't want to use any of their goofy
wallpapers that turn into screensavers.
