Hi guys:
A hard one...
I'm about to attempt to profile a web newsprint on pinkish paper, not unlike
the stock used for Financial Times, and the likes.
Does anyone have any experience with something similar to this they would
like to share, stuff that makes this differ from ordinary newsprint
profiling, special things I should be aware of?
There are of course many problems in this, apart from the paper stock.
Since it is newsprint it will be very hard to monitor the printing process,
as the client wouldn't like to have colorbars at the bottom of all the
pages.
They aren't too thrilled about the oval gray scale targets either, and
besides are these usable on colored stock?
So what would be the best way for these guys to monitor the printing of the
test patches, and the "for real" print?
Should I have them place colorbars while printing patches anyway, and
measure these for the profiling only, and then count on (hope) that they
will be able to hit this approximate state again, when printing for real?
Even so, how do you measure the base densities on pink paper, will the stock
have a negative/odd effect on the measurements?
Obviously I'd need to have a number of press runs made to be able to have
something to average, and use a low ink limit etc. I know all that.
I'm just looking for useful pointers...
Thanks in advance
