As it turned out, I too was in the difficult seat to make a decision between
a Viewsonic and a Mitshubishi. But after speaking with Mitsubishi pre-sales
tech support, here, in Canada, I decide to buy the "original": the Viewsonic
monitor I was contemplating was built from a Mitsubishi tube. Why go for the
copy when you can "own" the original? Besides, they were both in the same
more or $50 price range. I let the Mitsubishi support technician that what
Mitsibishi had done with this tube was superior to whathever Viewsonic had
done with it.
Also, for the records, just want to tell you that, after profiling with
OptiCal 3.1 and a DTP-92, this tube is giving me the exact same
chromaticities than "ColoMatchRGB" chromaticities in Photoshop 5.x ! Not
bad, at all, I find. I am still debating whether I should put my hands on a
Monitor Expert Calibrator, from France, that comes bundled with a modified
Sequel Chroma IV puck to read ambient light at 4000 francs ....
