Somebody help me.

I went for a demo on the new Roland printer (8 color 52" model.)

The color output was horrible.

Was it bad color management?

They had an HP next to it making very bright color but it was dyes and
not pigment inks.

Does the rip that comes with the roland do colormanagement?

I don4t have the 8 color model but the CJ-500 hexachrome. The Rolands are usually very good.
However there are no problem to get very bad output from the Rolands if that is ... called for.

The media might be bad, thewrong inkset has been installed - that one is very common, wrong media profiles .. etc and the operator might not be that skilled too.

The Roland rip relies on color management. Get somebody else to demo the unit!! And spend some money on training if you buy a Roland. When you get production on the new Roland plotters right - you will have very pleasing output. Terrific. -But the rolands , like most plotters, are very dependent on getting the right media. Check always if the lplotter you think you want does have the media you think you will use - and that the prices for such media are within reach.
