Paul,
I just started to use a Nikon 990X and used it with a ColorSynergy Digital
Camera Profile with some amounts of success. I have not tried "every
combination" of settings but I did work fine for me. I was particularely
pleased with how some neutrals were coming accross neutral in the converted
image. I had difficulty with some tones, however, some beigish yellowish
tints were not satisfactory. Even with some hard work color correcting on my
part in Photoshop, I was still not satisfied with the color appearance of
these tones.
As a policy, I always convert my raw scans first through Color Synergy 4.1
digital camera profile, say to ColorMatch RGB. Only if I am not satisfied
with the rendering will I need to resort to Pshop's color balance tools. I
would say, this works for more than 75% of my images, so far. But, do not
forget: I have not tried every combination of my camera settings, yet.
I am anxiously waiting for Color Synergy to support the new ColorChecker DC
which, I uderstand from speaking with Picto's tech support, is nearing
completion. I think this is an evolving process and overall, I am very
confident in the future prospects of that technology.
