CMC is used by the textile industry to compare "acceptable" differences
when comparing one solid color. It is an attempt to compensate for the
perceptual differences of different areas of the Lab color space. It
does not address how you compare multiple readings of color differences
in different areas of the color gamut.
Yes, the impression I am getting from you (Ray) is that you are
talking about weighing the validity of the match on what colors
"matter" more.
I am under the impression that this changes depending on the client or the job.
Perhaps there could be a small number of these tests/ratings. Flesh
tone, neutrals, outdoor - or something like that. Then you could get
a set of ratings on a match and use the number that corresponds to
the content of the image?
