Okay what the heck is going on here? I've made some custom ICC profiles
and they show up for me in all the regular pop-up windows, ColorSync
control panel, CMYK ICC setup in Photoshop, as well as the Space color
selection in Photoshop's print dialog.
Where they do their disappearing act is in Photoshop's print dialog for
Color Matching, this is where I want to select ColorSync and attempt to
choose my custom profile for printing to my Epson 5000 with the Fiery
Rip, and thus bypass the canned Fiery profiles.
The profiles were made on an -ick- NT box with Onyx Profiler 5.0 which
uses GretagMacbeth's Logo (the targets were printed on the Mac). The ICC
profiles were exported and copied over to the Mac, I then ran the
requisite set of utilities to confirm them and to add type and creator
codes, i.e. Profile First Aid, DropColorSync Profile, and Profile
Renamer.
I then naturally added these new profiles to the ColorSync folder in my
System Folder and then I opened up Photoshop, as mentioned above they
showed up everywhere except the Color Matching tab in the print dialog
window for Photoshop. I then decided to restart the Mac, this worked -
yesterday. Today is today and not yesterday and so the profiles are
being stubborn and will not reappear for me in the >Print>Color
Matching>ColorSync Color Matching Tab.
I've rebuilt the desktop, switched back and forth from LaserWriter 8.6
to 8.6.5, selected the custom profile in the ColorSync control Panel,
chosen this same ICC profile as my CMYK ICC color space of choice in
Photoshop, started and restarted Photoshop, looked at the profiles in
ResEdit- no luck!
I'm using MacOS 8.6, ColorSync 2.6.1, and Photoshop 5.0.2.
Any thoughts?
