Yes it's real and works very well after getting the file into the rip. Plan
on using Best paper for great results otherwise plan on profiling your own
stocks. That said I haven't seen anything else that can out of the box match
a press sheet(Gretag printed IT873) so close zero fudging required. Oh don't
leave the alpha masques in otherwise it'll think you've put in a spot
channel that it can do equally well. Give them just a bit more time as they
really want to give their customers something that works before launching
into the sickening game of release before it's time. Terms of matching well
that's the same as on the Windows machines so if you know someone running
proofs through XL or XXL take a look. I'm sure you're aware that to proof
you'll need a paper that holds as much or more gamut than the media paper
and that has little or no optical brightener. The proofer papers such as
Dupon Epson even though looks the same to the eye unprinted actually holds
quite a bit more gamut and dmax than the Epson paper. Ditto for the Best
papers. So the proximity of the proof will be greatly influenced by the
paper!
