I am considering purchasing a Polaroid Sprintscan 4000 bundled with
Silverfast BUT a new Kodak RFS 3600 Film Scanner has just been released
here in Australia...
Having only seen the specs, the thing that most impressed me was the
ability to scan an uncut strip of 36. I'm tired of fighting the Nikon
disaster bulk slide feeder. It would be worth mounting my own slides
to be able to scan a whole roll at once.
I also seek an email address at Lasersoft to enquire as to whether they will
support this Kodak Scanner with Silverfast in the future.
One thing about Lasersoft that turned me off forever -- I demoed**
their LS-2000 version, because I was fed up with the poor support for
the bulk slide feeder in NikonScan. Guess what? Bulk slide feeding is
an extra cost option with Lasersoft! The nerve!
I wonder, if and when they do a RFS 3600 version, if the ability to
scan 36 frames will be an extra-cost option... :-(
** I pay for useful software, but software is such a crap-shoot these
days that I have no qualms about "trying out" software before I
purchase it. If it solves my problem and doesn't crash too often, I
go pay for it. Thank goodness I didn't shell out several hundred for
Silverfast, just to find out it would cost me a couple hundred more
to get the feature I wanted. BTW: bulk slide feeding isn't on the
demo version, either.
