Dear Juanje Luzardo,
We have been using using 3M Rainbow 2730 for 3 years already. It is CMYK printer
and I don't think any RGB tool will make good job for it. It's not profilable
using standard ICC profiles. Their RIP doesn't support any ICC profiles. Our
version is 4.2 and as far as I know there is new version exists. I think it's 5.0,
but it's not profilable either. But there are exist some tools for its profiling.
One of them is Color Locking Software. It uses X-Rite or Gretag's tools to measure
patches. We tried to use it but with no success. I think it is good software to
linearize this printer not to profile. They create some kind of profile that is
possible to use in its RIP(ink ribbon calibration). Actually, it cost too much for
this kind of software about $2000. And the main problem is that delta E of the
same patch from one side of printed chart to another is > 1...2. You can try to
profile it using ICC tools, but there is a question how to apply this profiles.
Any way, it works not bad printing Pantone's spot colors. Very very close. So we
use it to proof Pantone colors.
And one more. If you decided to profile it try to use UV filter, because of
paper. We are using Gretag Spectrolino and don't have UV filter yet, so we use POL
filter and result is better then without any.
Hope this helps.
