the problem mr. clark refers to is metamerism. this is a significant
problem for some applications of the epson 2000P. for more info on this
topic, and examples of the effect in 2000P output, check out
http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/2000p/metamerism.html
the 1270/1280/1290 has a different problem, however. output from these
machines shows an orange shift due to a possible combination of
chromatographic effects and ozone/UV induced differential decay of cyan
and the composite dyes or black. for lots of detail and links on this
issue, check out
http://www.p-o-v-image.com/epson/chrono.htm
it seems that this problem has yet to be satisfactorily resolved. for
some people, the new epson paper variants seem to ameliorate the problem,
but it has not gone away.
i wonder if any people on this list are using HP's alternative, the
1220C/Cxi/Cse.
if so, i would be interested to hear your comments on this machine.
regards,
karuna

Anyone know of sources for new 1200's that might still need a new home?
