Does anybody in this forum have experience of working with and calibrating
the Fuji Pictrography 4000 (or any of the RGB Pictrographic range).
Ours is the RGB version -- not the CMYK pre-press proofer that uses a RIP.
We have our machine SCSI connected to a Mac and print directly from
Photoshop.
Fuji don't supply any profiles and sell the machine as a non-ICC compliant
device.
As with all Fuji products, we find that it has a blue bias (I often wonder
if this is a cultural thing with Fuji -- yellow skin becomes much more
western with this bias, whereas white skinned models tend to look rather
gray).
We need to find some way of integrating this device in with our pre-press
work that is proofed on Eurostandard Cromalin. I obviously don't expect
exact matches, but I am sure that we can improve on what we are getting at
the moment -- huge discrepancy in reds and yellows.
I would think that the best route for dependable colour would be creating a
profile for the Fuji and using Profile-to-Profile conversion in Photoshop --
but I am open to suggestions from anybody who has experience in this area.
