I am an advocate of moving from input space to a like-sized working
space using relative colorimetric and preserving the data integrity.
Perceptual compression can be used to go out to the final printing device.
This paradigm allows for the archival maintenance of original image integrity.

When using the perceptual intent, colors that are outside the gamut
are moved into it with some kind of realative relationship
maintained. So what happens to the colors that were already "in"
gamut that may have occupied the position that is now being filled
by those colors that were
originally "outside"?
