It seems we will need to
allow the vendor to run the profile but I'd like it to be linked
to a workingspace rather than a scanner profile if it does
indeed utilise device link profiles.
If you get a software RIP, and get a software RIP that only does
device links, and as if life weren't hard enough by then you also
have to leave it up to the vendor to choose what to link and then
link it, oh man ...
Talk to Steve and get a copy of ColorThink. The version in the chute
graphs Hex profiles so you can see what RGB working space to choose.
Then use CT to link it. If you don't run an Lab workflow where there
is no clipping of the capture gamut, it's time to rotate some gamuts
-:).
Thanks Henrik. Yes the version that is on it's way will graph Hex
profiles in all the glory of OpenGL. They are a pretty bizarre gamut
to be sure. Strange spikes and stuff that leads me to believe that
some of them may have been hand-tweaked a considerable amount.
Of the working spaces out there, ECIRGB (http://www.eci.org) fully
covers ISO Bundesverband Druck 12647-1 (http://www.fogra.org).
We will also include the ECIRGB profile as part of the standard color
spaces package that's included with ColorThink. It was omitted due to
error not prejudice <g>
