If a profiling package can import tab delimited text files, it can be used
with the Spectrocam. I have been able to use the Spectrocam with the
scrambled pattern produced by ColorSynergy.
ColorSynergy doesn't seem to be a favorite of this list but read on for the
real point in this note.
Their pattern is designed to indicate ink coverage problems produced by
the printer. This "scrambling" of the pattern seemed to add un-do
difficulty to the process. By reading identical colors on different areas
of the pattern, ColorSynergy can predict how well behaved the printer is. I
use a template in Excel and re-sort the data before importing the
tab-delimited file. An extra step but allows better diagnosis of the
printed pattern. Besides what good is a profile if you can't trust the
color patches.
ColorSynergy doesn't support the Spectrocam but it can import tab delimited
text. So in some ways the Spectrocam supports ColorSynergy.
I'm writing this because the spectrocams dependence on the export function
can be looked at as strength in its flexibility.
