Hi Gene,
The 1290 is the follow-up of the 1270. It uses exactly the same inks as the 1270,
but has as advantage that it now uses variable drop-size (3 sizes) and is able to
print in 2880 dpi on some media (although I think the quality gain you get by using
this is worth the wait (printing times increase heavely)).
On the epson 1200 I make beautifull prints, but in CMYK mode using the BEST Rip,
and you are right about the cmyk space. I should check that with the 1270 and
2000P, but I can't do that now because those printers are at the studio, and I'm at
home right now.
BEST released a new version of their Designer Edition (version 1.1), which I was
told by some people at BEST has some important features (for printing RGB data
using the BEST Rip for example)
Right now I'm using Epson's Photo Quality Ink Jet Paper (90 grams/m2), and BEST
profided the paper profiles for this paper (they are for download on their website
(www.bestcolor.com) and their you can find paperprofiles which are made for a
specific printer.
I haven't tried dupont proofing paper yet, but I hope I'll have a chanche to do so
in the near future (but therefore I need to have a spectrometer, to make an ICC
profile for that paper. And I'm arranging that).
Yours,
Job
