colortron a good solution?
Ah, good old Colortron. I still use mine. Though I'm told it's not as exact
as the more modern tools such as Eyeone and Spectrocam.
Allways loved the Colorton, still one of my all-time favourite Mac products.
If only for the wonderfull manual that Lightsource used to ship along with
it (*move it till you hear a satisfying click*, that's sheer literature!).
But Lightsource has been taken over by X-rite (which still uses the
Colortron software, by the name of Colorshop, very handy stuff) and the
colorton has been discontinued. People at X-rite told me the manufacturer of
the hardware wouldn't deliver anymore.
Worse: X-rite stopped support for Colortron. Wich is a shame because the
calibration target should be upgraded every year.
The Colorshop upgrades still work with old Colortrons though. And the adb
connection can be overcome with an iMate usb connector. So it'll work, but
nowadays I'd buy a spectrocam or something similar.
