Several people have asked me about the formatting of calibration data used
by the Epson Printer Calibrator software. For those of you without an Epson
Color Calibrator and wanting to use a Spectrolino or somesuch instrument
that will provide xyz readings, here's the deal, at least what works with my
EFI RIP Station 5000 running Epson 5000s:
The file must be named with the extension ".dat" on it, and have the
following header, with a carriage return afterwards:
# EPSON PrinterCalibrator Ver.1.0.0
Then, xyz measurements are listed, tab-delimited, with a carriage return
every 3rd measurement, like this:
79.283 81.037 72.322
No blank spaces at the end. 28 lines of data, measuring the calibration
measurement sheet printed from ColorWise.
Now, I need to service an HP DesignJet 3800CP with a Fiery X2-CP RIP, and
ColorWise asks for measurements from an X-Rite DTP32. Anyone know the
format of THAT data, so I can use a different instrument?
