Apparently there were pieces to the puzzle that I was not aware of.
I found a DiamondProof DI Color Proofing System on our Loading dock. It is
digital Dye Sublimation. Apparently it is new/overstock or something like
that. It is a 23.8x17.3 or 4-page sized machine. We are being offered it at
1/6th new price.
Let me give you our situation. In the next year we hope to go CTP, and we
were planning on Epson 10000 for a color proofer with maybe a 3000 or 5000
for the Art design department. We would want all this to run an 8/c
Speedmaster 102.
We are now using L-530 to film to Matchprint (4-page format) then assemble
and plate to our 5/c SM102.
Some Questions:
How does it compare to the Final Proof or the Polaproof?
Would it be good to get this machine since it is so cheap or would it be a
distraction?
Would it make a good replacement for the Epson 3000 for the art department?
Would it be an improvement for now in time, cost and man hours to use it to
replace or even pre-proof before the Matchprint?
Does it seem to be a fit for us?
Would it show trapping issues? (For that matter does trapping show up on the
Epsons?)
Any thoughts on this would be nice.
Thanks in advance.
